The Seti River
Seti is a unique river that passes through two beautiful and contrasting scenic areas. The river has relatively small volume, it is blue and warm and we recommend this as an ideal short trip for first time rafters or as “warm-up” for intermediate kayakers. The water temperature is incredibly warm, making it a popular choice for winter trips and also for kayak clinics.
The River Seti Khola rises on the South East slopes of Machhapuchhre and then flows south, as a fairly typical Nepalese mountain river it is a dammed for Hydro Electric power just above Pokhara and then shortly afterwards it disappears into a deep and very narrow chasm to go underground. It then reappear again in a wide valley a few kilometers below Pokhara – be warned though, the river disappears underground yet again, about 16km below Pokhara. A rafting expedition on the River Seti is one of the most beautiful short river expeditions available in Nepal. The warm waters of this river are heated naturally with the help of underground springs and geothermic activity.
